As a continuation of my paper collection of SAAB jets in 1/33 scale,
I needed a J21R which was a conversion of the propeller baseline fighter. Since no paper model is available of that jet, the closest one is the NOBI designed simple version in 1/48 scale.
I will build the prop version by enlarging it from 1/48 to 1/33 scale ( or 1.45 x ) to check it out. I built many of NOBI's model and found them to be simple, minimum detail and straight forward.
But first a bit about the plane:
The design emanated from WW2 in which all the guns were in the nose of the fuselage thus requiring a pusher prop configuration ( being single engined unlike the other twin boom configuration fighters like the P-38 Lightning ). This created a rather large plane that stood high on its landing gear. This aircraft became operational after the war and was unique to the Swedish air force.
