Well friends, the next Circus attraction is a rare aircraft, which departs a little from the themes of the cold war and modernity.

This time the unknown Douglas DC-5, the lesser known of the "DC". Designed to complement the operations of the DC-3 and DC-4, the DC-5 was a modern high-wing monoplane that could carry between 16 and 22 passengers. Douglas was targeting the American domestic market with the model that was smaller than a DC-3 and had the unusual feature for the time of having a tricycle landing gear. World War II prevented mass production that focused on the C-47, so only 5 civilian DC-5s were built, these five being operated by KLM and KNIL in Sumatra, being used in 1942 to evacuate Dutch citizens and Australians to Australia. One example was captured by the Japanese after the fall of the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia), and used as a transport (the subject of the model), the two DC-5s evacuated to Australia were sold and used locally, until at least one ended up in Israeli hands in 1948 during their war of independence. Seven more units of military versions used ephemerally by the USMC in 1939/1940 known as R3D1 and R3D2 were produced, which with their high wing were suitable for launching paratroopers. Model Scissors and Planes, repainted and rescaled by CAFE, assembly with some scratchbuilding details.

The 1 Real Coin is the same size of 1 Euro Coin.

The good news about this model is that our friend Tigertony is drawing a DC-5 from scratch using Bruno's methods at 1/100 scale, much more detailed. I am looking forward to this model.

Until the next.
