I bought a lightbox recently and I'm very happy with it. It was this one, namely the DIN A3 version: Daylight™ Wafer Lightbox Light Pad | online Kaufen - Kunstlershop gerstaecker.de

A major criterion for me was that it is fully dimmable. I considered a couple of others. They seemed to have various settings, I remember one with three. I don't like looking into bright lights, so fully dimmable was a must for me.

A long time ago, I used to have a lightbox with flourescent bulbs and only one, very bright, setting. In addition, it flickered at the rate of AC current, namely 60Hz (in the US). I never really used it but it wouldn't have been comfortable.

I don't think a lightbox for $20 would be adequate.
