CL-52 update

Hi All;
This has been a one step backward, two step forward kind of week. Looking at the first try for a five inch turret, it became evident that this version wasn't going to work. The dual five inch turrets one CL-52 had to have been the earliest mounts placed into service. The turrets were quite a bit different from the ones that we are familiar with. They were probably an early version of Mk 28 mounts. There is no photographic evidence of a gun captains hood on the top of the turret at this particular time. There appeared to be a short vertical pipe protruding from the rear center of the turret. On the back, there were no large cartridges chutes, only two small round ports for both guns. The crew access hatches were smaller. On the model ,looking from the front, the gun openings showed clearly that white card was quite visible. This all had to be redrawn. Fortunately, the basic drawings were correct and it was only a matter of clean up. The rear of the turret was simply redrawn to the proper configuration and the inside of the gun mounts was colored gray. The first two shots show the forward three turrets sitting in place. They rotate and elevate fine. Details are not finished, but that shouldn't take long. The third shot changes to the drawing. The alteration of the mounts from white to gray is evident at the bottom. The last shot shows the old turret compared to the revision. Next week's goal is to clean up the existing turrets, finish up the details, attach the forward turrets and start construction of the remaining five turrets.
