Thank you very much, my friend! The Amazon River and its tributaries have very wide stretches and drafts where large ships pass. So much so that during World War II, the US Navy had a large seaplane base at the mouth of the Amazon River due to the ease of operations.
An interesting fact about the Commodore's baptismal name, Manaus (formerly Manaos) is today a large city on the banks of the Amazon River and surrounded by forest. The urban perimeter literally ends in a green sea of trees.
