Atte

I started this a while back, but having had such rewarding success with my Locust, I've now got the bug and dragged this out to complete it.
It's to put on my desk in work, so it'll be around 6 inches long when finished.

Sweetness!!
I for one will certainly be looking forward to seeing it come alive!
I found a partial kit that someone started in Pepakura, but I forgot to save the site address to check for up dates.

After seeing your Locust, I'm positively salivating in anticipation of this kit.

Your models are great, and the textures you make are even greater. That is what sets your models apart from the rest, your texturing skills are something to admire.

Looking forward to this model.

And as always.

Please make a Hatchetman.

I am not going to stop bothering you with my request. lol Maybe I should start a petition for this. **grin**

Modelling complete (I think).

I'm experimenting with the gun balls. I've done a geometric shape (shown) which I don't like but might be infinitely less fiddly than a proper sphere, which I'm also trying (just visible on the far side).

Let the test-building begin!

Oh and it's intended to be around 160mm long (not including the gun) which I figure is roughly (and I do mean roughly) 20mm or 1:72 scale. To be honest, I'm less interested in the scale and more in making it a size which doesn't dominate my office desk.

Could you maybe do both versions of the gun ball? PopShun's Millennium Falcon did this with the turrets, and some of us don't mind building complex spheres if the model is worthy of such extra work.

Also, what about those 'connecting rods' that attach to either side of the center legs' hip joints? Or are those invisible in the picture?

Nope, not invisible, I, ahem, er, forgot about them. I shall add them with all haste. I need to add the little piston that attaches to the leg under the main hinge too.
As for the gun balls, I'm hoping to do them as proper spheres because I think they look much better. I have a 3mm rule. I try to avoid any surface that is less than 3mm in any direction. Making the Locust I established that that was about the limit of my tolerance for cutting, folding and glueing. If I can make the spheres look half decent without making the bands too thin then it's a go! I'll probably try and test-build them tomorrow.
Not sure how to do the barrels on the gun balls either. Maybe a cocktail stick job.

Once again this going to be one heck of great model to have sitting on one's shelf. I hope you release it in PDO too same way you did with the Locust. Always nice to be able to change the scale, I don't always mind building at scaled. Sometimes I just want the model as big as possible. But if you going to release only the PDF then it is good too.

Thanks again for wetting our appetites with this great model.
