Some findings
The linked site from his blog is actually a forum of sorts - allows "show & tell" posts of all kinds of modeling 'stuff'; lots of Gundam and Anime figures as well as plastic, sculpting and paper modeling efforts. Very cool. You do have to register, but Google Translate got me through it apparently okay so it can be done. Bit slow running it here in Virginia, USA, but it works - patience comes in handy. Folks commenting on his TIE also asked about his releasing it as a 'kit', but the translated response was not clear one way or the other. Obviously, it is nice enough to sell, but of course, cannot sell it being a SW subject.
You can bring up a listing of paper subjects from the TAG list at the bottom on the main screen; just copy and paste to Google Translate to determine the 'cardboard' tag. Part of S's explanation is he redid the TIE to try out 'new tech' that he now has compared to 2002 when he did the original design. IMO, the result is outstanding and allows for much more 3D 'greeblie' effects if wanted. He has definitely gained skill over time.

I heard back from Mr Makino and it is definitely due to copyright issues. Although I don't see the problem... there are a lot of Star Wars paper models, with new ones all the time. Unless someone sold a batch of his and Lucasfilm went after him instead of the pirate? |
