If you mean that POS 1/350th scale.....???? That ship is a nightmare and anyone who has built it knows what I mean. If you look at this video you'll see the one we are working on, We've used every available resource to create the most accurate and easy to assemble version of this ship that exists to date and I don't say that lightly. We've put a lot of time and money and research into making a museum quality, studio accurate model and as a matter of fact, I've been molding and casting all of the recently reconstructed parts and making corrections and modifications along the way.

Refit Movie 2 - YouTube

I'll be updating the TMP Era thread today with a cample of the work that has been done lo these last few months.

Since I haven't been able to download this full model of Rawen's Enterprise, you've inspired me to get back onto the Battle Damaged version.

After days of cutting and gluing the next batch of pictures can finally be loaded. First is the details added to the nose cone to complete it ready to be joined onto the next section.

Next is the tail section of the secondary hull starting from the inside out with the small craft for the interior of the landing bays working out to the interior parts. No changes have been made to this portion of the model, why mess with perfection.

Next the very tail section with the entrance to the hull bay. Here strengtheners on 550gsm card have been added in order to serve two purposes, firtly to give a smooth edge to the name plate at the back and second to give a solid base to glue part green 20 onto. By the time you glue this party in place the rest of the rear hull is closed in and thus its impossible to apply sufficient pressure onto part 20 to ensure a clean fit. With the hard crad at the rear you have a starting point to glue a bigger area and further it ensure that the opening is exact for the part to no longer fiddling to get the parts to line up.

I have also changed the order of construction by adding part green 17 to the very tails section before attaching it to the main hull as you have a larger surface to glue and it is easier to manage when you attach them.

Next is the arms for the nacelles and the changed internal structure that will hopefully give more strength to the arms and exure they are strong enough to hold the nacelles without warping. Will add the pictures when the next step is done and that would complete the secondary hull.

Thanks
JP

Man you are taking this already excellent model and making it even better, im almost afraid to think how good its going to be when you and Rawen consider it ready to be the final, definative release :D (I knew there was some reason I never did a full build of it yet although i did beta test some of the parts)

Starting with the nacelles arms that now join directly to the tail structure which in turn is held rigid by the thick cardboard ring that closes the tail section. Further to ensure the correct angle and add support the arms are joined inside the body onto the top of the internal structure. With heavy card at the front a back of the tail this section is now very rigid.

Sliding the two parts together and joining the two hard card rings makes for a much cleaner joint compared to replying on tab joins inside the parts as exact card rings fit against each other. Using the card internal structure the whole secondary hull is now completely smooth and round down its length. The nacelle arms are now rigid and correctly spaced and should not deform under the weight of the nacelles.

Next the neck joint.....

Next the neck between the two hulls. As this part is the only attachment between them I have added allot of internal strength to them. Firstly the photon torpedo section has 880gsm card added to its inside top to form a strong base to join the neck portion. Inside the neck portion is 880gsm card added to either side to form a stronger part to glue against when the two hulls are joined later. I have also cloed in the base of the neck to provide more room for gluing to the photon torpedo section and stop the base splaying apart when the two are glued together.

Lastly some pics of the secondary hull complete and waiting for the nacelles. Some minor amendments have been made to the model design and will be included in the final version.

As a teaser a picture of the amount of internal structure on 880gsm card that will form the strength of shape of the primary hull before the actual model card is hung on the outside now removing the need for the model to hold structure itself all the structure is internal and the balance only cladding.

Will load more pics when the structure is complete and when the primary hull is finalised.

Thanks
JP
