Have you tested the stability yet?

No. I haven't tested anything yet, I'm working the original build first and researching basic model rocketry techniques. I'm looking for the perfect ratio of fin length, number of fins etc in relation to size of the fuselage, diameter of said fuselage, weight and mass, as well as balance... and so on. It seems to me that the most stable ships have four fins and there is a direct correlation in the thickness and length as well as the shape when it comes to inflight stability... Sorry, I had to put my engineers hats back on and I'm a little rusty.

I designed this one as a flyer a few years ago, never published, but built as a flyer. On its one launch, the straw tubes that were glued to the body as the wire guide ripped off and the rocket did about 4000 circles on the ground. Note the metal washers at the top to move the center of gravity forward. Parachute popped nice though!

Wow! I think that makes for an obvious example of how something looks cool in theory and makes for a nifty ship in Sci-Fi, but in reality is not workable. Did you make any changes and try to compensate for the flight results and try again? I see that you used balsa wood for the stabalizer fins... |

i love that!
its completely retro! astro! it does need the holes in the fins and the indentation under the hole though. that is just too cool! |

My holdback on publishing it is I haven't figured out how to paint it. I don't have it as a 3d model but just flat conic sections. I have the skills now to make a 3ds version of it now, but I can't go the other way, I don't know how to flatten when its a 3d model... |
