Martian War Machine - My Own Design
H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds has to be one of my favorite novels; can't count the number of times I've read it since age ten...
That being said, I've always wanted to make my own model of the Tripods from the book; be it Jeff Wayne's design (I've built many copies of Cut & Paste's model) or Spielberg's cuttlefish-like monstrosities. But, I decided to make my own design (partly out of hubris, but more due to the fact that I'm not good enough to do a model of Wayne's or Spielberg's designs) I'm almost done with the model; just have instructions, a cover sheet, and the testbuild left to do. Might do a stand if I feel like it. The design I thought up (not that great, I know.): Multiple views (meant more for my own use; so don't expect anything profressional-grade): And the parts so far: This was one of the first designs I was considering, which I promptly ditched for multiple reasons. May resurrect it if people like: Anyway, that's all for now until Friday or some such other date in the near future. I'll try to post more progress pics if I get any more progress done

A lot more angular than the models out there already. I can see a lot of Sci Fi gamers picking this up to be a generic walker. Consider me intrigued.

I like both designs, maybe variations are appropriate. I would like to see what you prefer.

Just a gently Respectful suggestion, Brian: The "narrowhead" variant being the ordinary "squaddie" Tripod and the "flared-head" version being the "Commander" variant.
Such would seem to be a reasonable portrayal of what their human victims would perceive. Over-all I like very much your design conception. Kind and Respectful Regards My Friend, Uyraell.

Stand is now done! Decided to base it off the first battle in the novel at Horsell Common.

Dear RocketManTan:
Nice has that pre 1900 feel to me. I wonder why HG Wells did not say that the machines where in camo of reds to match Mars? Thank you for your work, MILES |

I think Wells said that the machines were a brass color, which I guess would be enough to match the red sands (or in the case of the novel, weeds ) of Mars. Personally, I decided to veer off from the color distinction as I felt that a more drab and matte color would be more intimidating or siniser
