One may greeble with only a sharp knife and some card...at its most simple level you may just be adding some additional layers of paper under parts to increase their 3Dness; or adding separate panels from another sheet of the same parts to again enhance 3Dness. The difference between greeble and detail is that greeble is more enhancing an effect where detailing is actually adding new detail based on the prototype...

Ah HA! Now I understand :-) Thank you SJP; greebling must mean different things for different disciplines, maybe.... and I confess, then, that I've been greebling in paper for years, without knowing what it was! When it comes to my designs, though, I prefer 'simple' but I can see that it could be something to try and incorporate on the right subject. Food for thought :-)

Beta Update

As this is relevant to Rhaven's suggestions after his build, it goes here This will be an option to play with for anyone building the model; the 'basic' Ship remains just that - 'basic'! so can of course be built without adding this detail.

Quick hello, and something more

Hello Friends Although not mentioned before, the instruction sheets that go with this model (should it ever be available - BIG CLUE ) are something of a prototype as far as letting anyone else loose with them goes. I gave a set along similar lines, to go with an 0 Gauge Steam loco I designed, to a friend in the States, and he reckoned there was too much information! I have refined them since, but the 'wordless' instructions are still a work in progress.

I (for one) REALLY like the instructions and how you have layed them out. They are very straight forward and easy to follow.
In cases like this, having a little to much informations is (by far) better than not having enough.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you all know, Plumdragon has sent me parts to add a little more detail to this model, so that I can test them and see how well they work with the existing model.
Not only that, but I decided to go the extra mile to see how far I could go with adding extra detail to this model.
With that being said, All of the photos are in this post. I will however make comments as to which parts are Plumdragon's and which ones are mine.

So let's get started.

As with all models, I started with the base.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4699.jpg

Now with these parts, you will not really see them once the model is complete, but I decided to layer the part anyways (just to show that it could be done).
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4700.jpg Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4701.jpg Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4702.jpg

I added the top shins.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4703.jpg

Here are the louvered parts (that Plumdragon sent me).
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4704.jpg

The louvered parts are assembled.

The bottom hulls are attached and the louvered assemblies are put in place.

I decided that the lower engine exhaust system would look good layered (to match the top part of the ship). So I decided to layer it.
I isolated the sections that I needed.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4708.jpg

I assembled them accordingly.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4710.jpg

It was a very tight fit, but I was able to get the lower engine exhausts in place.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4711.jpg Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4712.jpg

I decided to raise the grey border around the main engine exhausts.
Here are the parts for it.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4713.jpg

The main engine exhausts are assembled.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4714.jpg Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4715.jpg Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4716.jpg

The main engine exhausts are in place.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4717.jpg

The hatches are attached. The model is finished.
Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4718.jpg Little Ship Beta Build.-imag4719.jpg

Please note that the only extra parts that Plumdragon added to his original kit, are the louvers. everything else was my doing.
I did this to show to what extent the details of this model could be enhanced.

With that being said, Plumdragon had produced a GREAT MODEL!!!
It is fun and easy to build. SO PLEASE show plumdragon appreciation for his work by downloading this model (once it is available), build it, and post photos!!!

Thank you talls6 :-) Rhaven has done an excellent job showing how to transform my little model into something a bit special; my thanks to him for his valuable input, because this is the first one ever of my models that anyone other than myself has BETA'd!
Hopefully, in a few days, this model will be available to download through this Forum; I just need to contact admin to square up a few details....
