Starfighter-X (Star Wars X-Wing)
Here are some photos of my latest build, the Starfighter-X 'inspired' by the X-Wing fighter from Star Wars, which I finished recently:-
I bought this from the Visual Spicer website, and the designer, Taras Lesko has done a great job. Everything fits together perfectly and the graphic instructions are very clear and easy to follow. As you can see, it also comes with a stand that allows it to be displayed on a desk or shelf etc, or alternatively it can also be hung on a wall. He recommends 200gsm card for all of his models, but I only had 160gsm to hand so I tried building it with that. Everything went well until I tried to attach the second wing, at which point I realised that I needed either thicker card or to scale the model down a bit. So I reprinted the parts again onto A5 sized 160gsm card instead of the A4 size that I'd tried initially, and that was much more successful - as you can hopefully see from the photos! The model has turned out at approximately 2/3 of it's original size. It's taken me a bit longer to finish than anticipated, but I got there in the end! I hope you like it. You can find the link to view some more photos on my website.

What is it that makes the classic Star Wars ships so appealing to the eye? Obviously, the folks who designed them knew what they were doing - but what are the technical details of the why? Or is it a thing which hasn't got technical details? Is esthetics a quantifiable, dissectible, science?
