I am building this and I have a question. What is the point of the extra material on parts 3a & 4a? You know. The curvy white section across from the main texture.

You weren't suppose to notice that. In fact you didn't. A weather-balloon got trapped in a gas pocket that reflected the light from Venus. Please look at this flashy-thingy so we can administer the eye exam.

That's the underside of the part. Actually you pointed out an error that happens in pepakura when you don't use quads or tri's (4-sided or 3-sided faces) on convex edges of the relevant face. It's also something that I completely forgot to correct.
Luckily the solution is easy, just build parts A3 and A4 around A1 and A2. You can use the extra exposed area of that shape on A3 and A4 to glue onto A1 and A2.
Thanks for pointing it out!

Am having fun with the build so far. And still hoping for the Big Bertha version.

I had issues with parts b2 & b3. I still can't see where they go in the instructions. At one point they look like they lay horizontally over the front of b7 & b8. But then in later pictures they look like they point down. Either way, b7 & 8 don't go far enough back to butt up against the d1 & 2, e1 assembly. I wish that b6 was made like the c4 & 6 turrets. Also, what part do the f8s go on? And are they mountain or valley folds?

on the "back" of B1 there are two light-grey outlines indicating placement of B2&3. Since the "back" of B1 is at an angle, they do indeed look like they are angled downward.

Regarding B7&8, that's strange. Anyone else have this problem?

B6 is mounted on top of B5, just like C4 is on C6. B6 does have an extra segment, because it's a larger turret.

F7&8 are Mounted on the inside of the Death-blossom doors (F4/F6) texture side away from F4/F6, thus a valley fold.

I should have gone back in the thread and looked at the pictures. That would have solved for B2 & 3. And the door question also. And I managed to glue the ladder strip in upside-down.

This reminds me though that I really need to texture my Deck Fighter, or else have someone do it for me. I do love that design, but I am not good enough with digital painting yet to do it justice IMO. But no time like the present to learn.
