Apart from some clean-up work to be done this is about it folks. Time hasn't been an issue with the build it's working when my hands aren't so shaky - i will leave the clean-up til' my hands are rock steady. Anyway hope you like Fireball XL5 with or without the cups and other items on the table - a final shot will be here when i can do it !

I like it!!!
You have done nothing but improve this model!
Fireball lives again! (for me anyway)

You have inspired me to try Fontaine's model again!

But this time I'm giving it a 2x scaleup.
I've already cleaned up the colours and graphics
(because of the enlargement)
and created a new 2 page print...
other than that, I haven't changed anything.

maybe I should share it too?
Once its done, I'll put up pics of the model on my site
and I'll share the new upscaled files.

Thnaks again Peter for the great build thread and inspiration!

Please, please share the bigger version - I never saw the original series and was introduced to XL-5 and crew through the pages of TV Action but I still think it is as iconic a ship as TB2, Discovery and Millenium Falcon...

I won't be building it for a little while...kinda in the middle of this F-18 build and a couple of repaints at the moment
...but....
I could finish the clean up and probably get the file ready for upload.

Of course, its a good idea to build it first, before you go passing it around! but there shouldn't be any issues with the build, since I haven't actually changed anything...

only thing I have done is clean up colour and graphics, replaced some of the lettering on the ship and added 3 formers for the enlarged side fins. I don't think it needs anything else. I'm guessing the overall length will be in the 10"-12" range.

I will post the file as soon as its ready!

Just wondering...does anyone have any dimensions for XL-5? Just looking at the diagrams, I'm realising that it is considerbaly larger than I first perceived, maybe 120-150 feet long? This would be quite impressive in 1/72...
