in advance of an attempt to build this I have experimented with gluing aluminum foil to cardstock. it seems to work pretty well if you roll it on carefully, and it's fairly sturdy. has anyone used this technique before and can tell me problems I might run into and how to avoid them?

Gil has more than mastered the bonding of foils to paper in many of his numerous builds and research projects. How to Make Aluminum Clad Card Stock

I would suggest doing a search for Gil in the member list and checking out all of his ongoing contributions and there are other foil experiments. They are incredible!

Hope this helps
Ron

PS. Thank you for the EndoSkeleton Hand Ing! This looks like a project that I will be building for my guy at Silver Snail Comics. He blesses me with tons of pulp board and this would go great in his store!

off the top of my head that seems like the problems would be they're too thick, lining mirror stickers up would be a pain, and they would be kinda fussy to work with. it would be easier to just laminate the pages with tinfoil.

Has anyone ever tried the chrome spray paint? I was in the hardware store yesterday for that very purpose Plastikote makes a spray for chrome bumpers. I've seen video of a guy chroming his motorcycle wheels that were originally black. He started with a gloss black base coat and after a good while drying sprayed the chrome and then a clear afterwards. The Plastikote stuff, from what I can see will probably work well with a quick gloss black spray to seal the card and then the chrome. I'm going to give it a go! Even if it looks like a nice aluminum it might be worth the effort

Hello,
when I was designing this model I found one site with plastic model of endoskeleton hand. Guy there sprayed firstly whole model with gloss black and then he sprayed it with chrome paint. According to some modellers, this should be a common technique for creating nice and glossy chrome paint.
Here is the link - The Diary of a T-800 Arm

Hope it helps

PS: Soon, I will repost a model for download - stay tuned
