They look great Chris, great job. You're right, they look a lot like Oblivion probes.

Hi Sergio, thanks for stopping by! Yes, I might just have to build an Oblivion drone at some stage, I really like the design of it.

I added some heat stress stains to the gun barrels, and started on the engines. The exposed engine top of the model will get a similar treatment of various metals and weathering.

Here are the parts posed with the model:

Fantastic patina. The heat stress on the guns is very realistic.

Thanks Don, glad you like it! It is not a new idea, I got the recipe from Ron Saikowski's blog at http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-paint-heat-stained-gun-barrels.html
He doesn't post there anymore, but he keeps the blog up. It is a treasure trove of old-school painting & modelling techniques, with a slant towards wh40k and Space Hulk in particular.

Now that the major airbrush work on the Raptor is done, I removed all the protective stuffing: The pilot is back in his cockpit:

Next I re-primed the engine and other exposed parts in black, in preparation of giving them a metallic coating.
Here are some shots with the fully posed model:

I'd love to see you enter it in a GW modeling event. It would be hilarious if it won and made it in the magazine.

I noticed there is no chipping on the rear landing gear housings and entire aft section of the craft. I'm sure you'll get around to it. Or perhaps the last photo was taken pre-chipping?
