Yes, there seems to be some ambiguity with these units. I believe the idea was that they are high velocity machine guns. They are shown in the attached diagram (31). In at least one of the episodes they are used and they give an orangeish flash as they are deployed.

There are thrusters at the sides of the Interceptor that are used to control forward motion, and braking (4).

The original idea for the missile on the front was that it would break into a cluster of missiles instead of just one big missile. The problem with that idea came from the fact that it would be too effective, and would surely destroy any UFO(s) before they reached earth. That wouldn't support the story-line where there would be SkyDiver and other protective systems on earth making them redundant.

Thank you for your comments. It was refreshing to again look at the research information I gathered when I worked on this project

I stand corrected. According to cut-away artwork that I found they are high powered machine guns. Although the internal workings of said guns do not resemble guns at all.

U.F.O. Interceptor - Build Thread

Here we continue with the build of the UFO Interceptor. Focusing on the nose and side fairings.

The undercarriage had to be reinforced considerably otherwise it would buckle under the weight.

I had to make a lot of changes to make the model stronger in certain areas. Also we can get away with a lot more when it comes to the smaller version of the model, such as where the fairings contact the sides of the fuselage. I had to add strips to the sides first, and then attach the fairings to those.

Actually, the moon does have gravity. Just 1/6th of earths gravity. So no need to artificial gravity on the moon.
