Rawen's NCC1701 Refit Enterprise "Refit"" Model Build
Right, after three weeks of tinkering with the design from Rawen for the Enterprise I have finally reached the stage where I can build the model incorporating my changes and internal structure redesign.
Starting on the nose cone of the secondary hull I have eliminated all the tabs on each ring that makes up the model except part green 8 where one set of tabs is retained in order to glue part 9 & 10 onto the nose cone. The balance of the joints is now edge joined top and bottom of each ring with 1mm card to create perfect, solid circles for each ring and privide a smooth edge to join the rings together without having the tabs create a wrinkled edge to the ring and adding extra card between the joints. I have chosen to use 250gsm card for the body of the model and 160gsm card for the smaller detailled parts as the heavier card holds the curves better. The connecting discs are printed on A4 stickers and in turn stuck down onto 640 gsm card (1mm thick). The final model to be loaded here will specify which pages are printed on what card for ease of reference. Attached are some pics of the build of the rings of the nose cone and the final product. Starting the next part of the secondary hull next and will load pictures as i progress. Thanks

Nice build thus far, that last shot is quite impressive, but I think the date is off on your camera. Wish I knew where to get this whole model... Alas, I do have a couple in the works anyway....

The next part of the secondary hull. The windows have now been cut into one portion to ensure that the joint is easier. The two parts are now build separately and then joined together sliding the arboreum into the model as part of structure between the two parts. With the hard crad ends on each side of the rings the need for tabs on either side and the extra card that they bring has been eliminated.
Last pic shows the nose cone joined to the first part of the secondard hull. Next is the rear of the hull with the new structure for the nacelles that provides extra strength and aligns the risers properly using the hull for strength rather than replying only on one small joint inside the hull on top of the interior parts.

Excellent work so far!
Would you mind if I made a suggestion? Could you move the ring of white "lines" on the deflector dish inwards? They don't actually meet the edge of the dish on the filming miniature: |

you would have to open the dish in paint, and then use a blue brush square to shorten each line from the outside towards the center by at least 1/10th.
maybe someone else knows a better way. |

No problems, have made the changes to the internal lines on the dish in the pdf original. Thanks for the suggestion.

Legal01, this is a thing of beauty and ingenuity! This also looks like it could handle some lighting for those of equal ingenuity!
