I'd love to give some of these WH40K kits a try but find the coloring of them too garish. If they were offered in more realistic textures, like this build, it would be great. And I lack the time and abilities to re-color them myself.

Thanks, fellas. I agree, SG. The WH40K vehicles used by the Orcs, and also by the Space Marines are quite garish. A lot of the Imperial Guard armored vehicles are pretty plain, though.
More progress has been made. I completed the left side of the tank, and have glued both sides onto the central hull. I'm really liking the way it looks. I also digitally pulled a track link from the belt, and redesigned it into an individual link. I duplicated it enough times to complete the model - about a page and a half of letter sized paper. I'll use plastic rod for the pins that will hold the links together. This will be the most time consuming and monotonous part of the build, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Moving along, I have completed the caterpillar for the left side of the Thunderer. 36 links in all. I set up an assembly line for the right side links and they are all cut out, edge colored, and ready to be formed and joined. This part of the build is slow going because it's so monotonous that I often find some other chore to do. I'm eager to get onto my next build, though, and that is keeping me more or less on track (see what I did there?).

Excellent work Don! The tracks look sharp, and the rest of the model is built to your high standards as always.

Thank you Chris and Roger. I actually finished it about a week ago but I haven't taken final photos yet. I'll get that done soon.

The Thunderer is done. Actually, it's been done for a while, I just neglected to take or post final photos. All in all I'm very happy with the way it came out, particularly the tracks. On both sides, the beginning and end of the individual link strip matched up perfectly, and the last track pin slid right in. I can't say enough about these WH40K kits. They easily build up into really impressive looking models. Even if Warhammer isn't your "thing", please give one a try - just for the enjoyment you will get from building such a well designed model. They vary widely in part count and complexity, so I recommend starting with a simpler one, without a bunch of turrets and side sponsons. Have fun.
