WH40K Thunderer
After a long hiatus, I'm starting a new build. Yay! I selected this Warhammer Thunderer siege tank designed by Patoroch. It was one of the versions included in his "old" Destroyer model kit. I did a Photoshop recolor in no particular faction's livery - just something I thought looked attractive.
I was able to print this one at full size on letter sized paper, so it's 1/60 scale. I started with the hull, reinforcing all the inside panels with thin corrugated cardboard. The photos represent one afternoon's modeling session.

Thanks, fellas. The build has progressed a bit further. I finished the central hull, including the gun, with no problems to report. As I've come to expect with these Patoroch kits, all parts fit together perfectly. The one piece exhaust pipe(s) should be at a 90 degree angle. A design issue resulted in what you see. I could have addressed the defect and reprinted the corrected parts, but since this is a fantasy tank, I decided to leave them alone.
I'm really looking forward to the next phase of the build. The side panels is where the personality of these Lehman Russ based WH40k vehicles lie.

Very nice work, sir. I really like your color. Nice balance of 'warm' and 'drab'. So many times, builders will use gawdy bold colors. It's nice to see this as a working tank

Quite a piece of ordnance. It resembles the famous 45 cm phlogiston foray cannon.

The right side of the Thunderer is pretty much done. Sorry to disappoint, VK, but I just had to jazz it up a little. I left off the very small laminated parts like hinges and door handles, as these are easily damaged with handling. They will go on at the very end of the build. I'm involved in building the left side now. I've built a number of these Warhammer vehicles now, and with familiarity assembly is easier and quicker. Rather than using the supplied belt type track, I think I may go with individual links on this one. It's more work (and tedious at that), but in the end I think it'll look much better. I've done it before on my Vanquisher build, and it was well worth the effort, IMHO

Individual links 🤪 Mind you, it'll look so much better for the effort.
