Ultraman VTOL Model Rocket
Hello All,
My son and I have been playing around with model rockets recently so I decided to try something. I loved (really loved) the Japanese series from the 1960s called Ultraman. The Science Patrol fought monsters with the help of Ultraman and they had some cool vehicles including a VTOL. Turns out that VTOL is a free download on our Paper Modelers site. I simply built it with two bulkheads, a rocket tube inside and make a nose cone area and streamer recovery system. I powered it with a small Estes model rocket engine and the dang thing actually worked. It was so fun to see it fly and realizing it started out as a paper card model. Ultraman's VTOL as a Paper Card Model Converted to a Model Rocket! - YouTube Soooooo Cool. I think I'll be trying this again! |

That worked out great! A little to much arc, but it flew and was recoverable!

Thanks, Everybody. It was lots of fun! Here is a shot of it just after launch. I think you can actually see it in flight...
Cheers, Dan |
