Police Spinner from Blade Runner (1982)
This is a kit I downloaded*a long long time ago. It's a Pepakura model I think but unlike so many others it comes with good instructions. I printed it on heavy paper (0,5 mm) and in half the intended scale (two pages per one) so I really was looking for trouble with it. I wonder why, mayby I just didn't understand what I was doing back then.
Sometimes when I have an idle phase with the hobby I just pick up something already printed, usually just to try something out: like building techniques, detailing and so on. Usually those kits don't end up finished. But this one did. Original idea for picking this one up was the multiple round shapes it has. I cut all the tabs of and used thin paper pieces from the inside the form a smoother outside surface. Heavy paper and small scale didn't make this exercise easy. Build went fine except for one thing, I couldn't figure out a way to get the windows in place. Instructions are clear but the doby of the car is so unstable at that point of the build so I just decided to save the work done rather than push it to the limit. Some internal structure might have helped with this. So I left the windows out. I quote my wife: ''For once I can really see what's inside the cockpit.'' Not a bad reward. Year ago I built the 1966 Batmobile on the same scale and printed it on the same heavy paper. I think both models are 1/24 so mine are about 1/48. The Spinner kit is designed by Doumier Smith aka Longtail and it can be downloaded here. The Batmobile is designed by Claudio Diaz and the kit is available here. Tappi |

The graphics on the spinner interior are pretty cool. I can't tell whether the seats are truly tufted or just look like they are. The batmobile looks great too.

Thanks gents! I love the graphics too and those printed so well on the aquarelle paper I used. The original is a bit on a bright side to my taste but it's easily tweaked when printing if you choose so. Spinner was finished two days ago but printed maybe ten years earlier. The Batmobile was made several years ago, not one year as I stated previously. Last pic I made quickly on my iPhone using Photoshop Express.
