NCC Enterprise Star Trek XI

My take on the Enterprise from Makino/Uhu02.

Some build pics.

Thanks to eva1701 for his build thread. Could not visualize many of the assemblies without it. Enterprise 1701 By Uhu02 and Makino

Getting a flat disk is a challenge. I resorted to corrugated cardboard for the top, and redrew the bottom to give it some shape to make it stronger. It was, but attaching the rim was tricky.

As soon as the glue dried, the four assemblies (Hull, disk, and two nacelles) started going off in different directions. My solution? a 3d printed keel, of course.

Thank you for this build. It brings memories of visiting the original model at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington DC! Wonderful holiday.

Thanks!

In addition to the new good idea 3d printed keel, all the cutting was done by a laser cutter. (My first cut completely on the laser), I had hoped to document a process for going from the pdf drawing to the cutter instructions. But each page seemed to have its own challenges.

Laser cutter...yeah...would love one of those, especially for thicker card. Back to work now and so will let santa know next year. It looks great and I look forward to seeing how you approach the central saucer.
