You might try a second look; it has held up pretty well. Criterion gave it a gorgeous DVD release.

I scratch built one of the George Pal Martian war machines out of resin and white metal many years ago.
If I get time I will post a photograph of it on here for you, although it's not paper it may be of interest.
I wish when I did this that I had kept the mould, I think it was dropped and damaged so only one was produced. I also wish that I had made the tank to go with it as this will make a good diorama.
your model is looking good I may just have to build want to get with mine.

I first saw RCoM when I was a kid too in the late '60's and liked it a lot then because of the Sci-Fi angle. Years later, as an adult, I stilled liked this move (maybe even more), but now in spite of the (really hokey) Sci-Fi angle, for in essence, the movie's really about a downed military pilot who had to survive in a hositle environment with nothing more than his training, wits, and the scant bits of equipment he had at his dispoal.

Plus, it had a pre-Batman Adam West in it, so how could you go wrong....?

I remember seeing RCoM back in the late 1960's too. Liked it then and still like it when it shows up on TV somewhere.

I am eventually going to build three of the martian tripods from Cut & Paste Sci-Fi. I still have the one used in the b&w photo posted earlier, just need two more.

Ignoring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning, I would love to see a model of the Martian war machine from the remake. That was a cool design and the monsters were really thoughtfully designed, too.

I did like the fact that they used that Martian Claxen...just like from the book.
But honestly, how did you ignore those two?

You mean Dakota Fanning and Tom Cruise were in the remake? Guess that explains this massive hole in my memory of that movie . . .

I liked it for what it was....especially the fact that Cruise wasn't a likable character (for a change) and the two actors' from the '53 version cameo (how the heck did they manage to have their brownstone kept in perfect condition in spite of all the desolation?).
