"Moon" Gerty Robot

Here's a model we need to convince someone to design (good lord is it a PITA to find decent pictures of the thing, though):

Has anyone seen the movie yet?

An interesting bit - read about (but have not seen) the movie. Seemed to have a plausibly realistic plot. This one would probably have to be a diorama - Gertie doesn't seem to be a unitary piece of hardware.

The movie was really good, I liked it a lot.
I agree with Yogi though, it doesn't seem like it could be a stand alone model.
The thing hangs from the ceiling and has multiple sections.

A highly recommended movie. It really explores an interesting theme that I will not divulge.

The trick for the model would be to take a screen shot and use it as a backdrop for a suspended model.

I think the Moon "trucks" would make cool models!

This movie has received such bad reviews.
I'm not sure i have read anything positive about this film.

I thought it was absolutely amazing!!
and I'm glad to hear that others liked it too.

although, I thought Kevin Spacey's voice for "gerty" was a little too sugary and nice
...and needed to be a little more mechanical? (a la HAL -2001?).

FYI Moon is the first major film by Duncan Jones. Duncan,
who wants to recognized for his art, not his name,
is using the real last name of his father David Jones.
....also known as David Bowie.

If you like a good solid sci-fi, this movie is a definite don't-miss.

I thought about the fact that this is a model that would literally have to hang, which provides interesting design challenges. I was imagining something like a short section of overhead track to represent the whole thing. As to how to support it, I had a few ideas, but wasn't quite sure what would look best. Maybe a wall section behind it holding the ceiling up? (I'm a builder, not much of a designer -- I can scratchbuild parts to add detail to a model with pencil and ruler, but I've never been able to learn how to draw this stuff on a computer. :o)
I mentioned it was difficult to find decent pictures. I was in fact wrong about that.

Gavin Rothery's Portfolio- Portfolio

This site actually has a ZIP file of high-res pictures -- unfortunately, nothing in the way of thee-views, but still some decent reference. The site is actually the prop designer's, and he was responsible for the vehicles as well.

That was one of the things about the movie - the guys wanted to take it back to the classic sci-fi's and did things their way.
I forget where I read it, but it was in some interview...

They sold a lot of the props on eBay back in August. What I would have done to get my hands on them...
