I tried using magnetic business cards, but the magnets didn't seem to have enough strength. Definitely go with the rare earth variety.

cfuruti, I'm uploading my Novacat with no folding lines at the Downloads section of this forum (my first upload here), so everyone who don't have Pepakura Designer can use the model, although I don't know how many time it will take to be available to download.

@Shiftdel - thank you very much. I figured I could remove the most obvious lines by printing to a PDF, then editing it, but it's a lot of work.

Regarding the Nova Cat, there's a small problem in the round caps above each shoulder: the texture on the right part is a flipped copy of the left one's, so if the skin contains text, it appears reversed. I still haven't printed the model, and at a glance the 3D view suggested both caps are identical, thus printing the left part twice seems a quick and easy fix. Otherwise, that begs the question - is this a modeler's bug, or a "skinner"'s?

Well, I'm the modeler of it, I modeled it from scratch from screen shots and a low res side view, so I hope it is not a modeler or skinner bug

Actually the problem is with the texture file, it has only one shoulder cap in it, which needs to be mapped on both sides, which is only possible mirroring the same area of the texture. The texture file don't have any sort of text or symbols, on game they are added over it, so it's not a problem to the game, but it is for the 3d model.

I can see only 2 ways to correct it, one is to create a mirrored texture file, and edit it to include the text and/or signs directly on it (which is very time consuming), another way is to print a set of symbols and texts on adhesive paper (Is that the name?), so you can cut them and apply to any part of the model.

@Shiftdel -
  1. I guess having text on separate decals won't be so simple - texture mismatches are bound to happen, unless one prints on transparent media
  2. probably any computer-savvy builder can create a reversed texture file, load it into Pepakura and print only the affected part - that's what I personally will do (when I finish my current build, that is), if the left and right caps are not identical
  3. I agree it's a combined problem - the model didn't anticipate being used with a non-reversible textures, and the texturer didn't check for sensitive parts
  4. currently I'm bound to be out of reach of the 'net for extended periods, so please forgive me eventual periods of apparent non-responsiveness :(

Welcome Monkeyrum! We like pictures, how about posting some photos? Your re-textured Hellhound is amazing.

Yes, please. The Hellhound, which looks to me like a bigger, badder Shadow Cat, has sat in my queue for months, as my current WiP is taking way too long to complete.

There was a question earlier about 'Mech heights. This handy dandy comparison guide might come in handy. It depicts a limited number of 'Mechs, but it gives their heights in meters, and their weight in tons, so I suppose you could extrapolate an educated guess for mechs that aren't on the list.
