I've completed the retexture of Megatron. I think he's looking pretty good in his new skin. I ended up creating 3 separate texture files for him.

He is ready for unfolding and I will be beta building him shortly.

I also figured out why Metasequoia was rendering at a lower res than the textures. Here is a pretty good preview of where I'm at with him:

I didn't get too much work done on him this weekend. I have him all printed and I am working on the legs right now.

I currently have him scaled to be about 7 inches when completed. I almost think I'll have to double that though. The face is going to be a challenge to build at this current scale. Time will tell when I get to that part though. The rest looks to be pretty straight forward.

Nothing that special update-wise. I just completed the beta build of the left leg. Only thing a little weird is the top where I had to cut the original model. I think a tweak in Pepakura will all that will be needed.

I don't have the upper part of the leg glued yet in case I need to do any adjustments when I connect it to the pelvis.

The only other note I have is I had it laser printed and lost some of the finer light details in the grip part of the legs. I think a regular inkjet that's good at printing photo's would be a good choice to retain some of the details.

The legs, hips, and pelvis have been completed. Not too shabby. I am now entering the torso and the head, which should be the hardest part.

I'm going to attempt it at this scale to see how bad it is. I know that I will for sure scale it up to around 12-14 inches for the final, but I'm curious how the 7 inch that I currently have it at will look...

Cut-paste-fail... is the update. I was able to complete the torso, but the upper part was a bit of a challenge. So much so that it turned me off from doing the current implementation of the head. Right now I have an armless headless trophy of fail.

I'd like to still keep the brow and nose jutting out, but the face texture would probably be enough to carry the model if it were wrapped on a cylinder.

I was looking at Loudog's hot rod and his head has geometry and looks tough, but do able. Anyone build his Hot Rod and are able to comment on the difficulty of this face?

Also the upper upper torso I'm going to break down into 3 pieces to make it easier.

Every thing will find it's place, we are not hurry, the face you mentioned before is not hard to asamble, just need to use some small tools like thootpicks, every pice of 4 mm or even 3 mm side should not give problems with some patience.
