The Amityville House

Hi All
Well the Peugeot 1905 bebe is almost finished so I am starting with a new project which I was planning now for a long time.
I have always had a fascination with the Amityville house and then I got this idea and thought why not build a model of one.
I plan on building the original house (not the new revamped one).
I also intend to make it in such a way so the I can make it available for all to download and build.
Here are some of the pics I found on the net to work from.

That is a great idea, Scott! I don't know where the colored photo comes from, but it doesn't match the photos of the real house: the chimney runs up the outside of the house, there are no dormers, and there are only 2 sets of windows on the porch side, not 3. I wonder about the 2nd porch too - there doesn't seem to be enough room for it in the aerial view. You could probably pull some architectural detail from that picture, but for the accuracy of your model, I'd stick with the photos. I'll be watching with interest.

This is a model that I am surprised hasn't been done. Following with great interest.

It sounds like your up on ref material, but if anyone's interested, my fav house blog Hooked on Houses did a nice post on this house a couple of years ago:

Would You Want to Live in the “Amityville Horror” House?

Hi Guys
The colored pictures is from an H/O plastic model available.
I have already discarded the photo after comparing and saw that it is not according to the original.
The size of the model won't be small and will probably be around 1/66 scale about the same as the the Haunted Demension's houses.
I have already done some drawings and will post them on Wednesday.
I have decided to add a lot of detail to the house to make it as realistic as possible.
I will also add the boat house and a base for the model.

And yes the "spirits" are optional but can be added to the model if you ask nice.

This should be great!

BTW, I live in Copiague, which is next door to Amityville...the house has been modified quite a bit from the time of the murders, trying to disguise the house and avoid on lookers, but if you think some photos might be useful let me know.

Cheers!
Jim

I have always wanted to go see this house. I have been to the Exorcist house and walked down the Exorcist stairs.

Looking forward to seeing this build.
