Typically any investment in pre-printed kits will be an ok one.... they may not sell quickly but they will eventually sell. it depends on how quickly you need to make that profit back.
Here is the problem I see in how you are judging interest. Everyone is interested and thinks its a great idea. But when push comes to shove many of teh folks wont buy after its available even if they said they would. Could be a lot of reasons for this but I have found it to be consistently so.... You should try this Kickstarter to judge interest. Determine how much cash you need (in addition to what you already have set aside) to make this a reality. Then let folks invest. Give more or different kits for varying amounts of investment. Then if you dont reach your financial goal you will know the market wasnt really there. Just a suggestion of course...  Chris
