I had not noticed the size before but that seems a bit small. My VR Rome is 5,000,000 sq meters and America is over 500 million sq meters. I guess it's all relative. Anyway, his is a wondrous site and it is amazing that one man has spent years building such a visually correct model of what once was. And...all out of paper. (Except for some of the statues and columns)

I put some pics of the Prague model in the German forum: Kartonist.de | Fotoberichte | Langweils Modell von Prag
It shows more than 2000 buildings on 20 m². Built between 1826 and 1837.

My God. Can you imagine the hundreds of hours and years of dedication it would take to make such a magnificent model? I don't read German so is it out of paper or plaster or a combination? There is another model of Rome from the 30s and it was made of plaster. I will see if I can dig it up.

Plan de Rome
There. Thats the plaster model of Rome. Without looking up all the details, I think it was created in the 1930s and partially destroyed and then recreated. It is an amazing model and you can get detailed views of many of the public buildings. |

The buildings of the Prague model are made of cardboard or wood and are covert with paper. The paper was hand painted or printed with lithography. More infos in English: http://www.praha.eu/jnp/en/entertain...s_has_not.html
