Old North Church

For a change of pace on my 'serious' build of the Grumpy, I took an evening while sitting with the wife watching Matlock reruns and knocked out the Bicentennial Series Old North Church model (you remember...Boston, Paul Revere, one if by land, two if by sea, three if no one gives a damn because the beer's cold and a ball game is on...). Pretty no brain...all die cut, even the scoring done for you. Makes a fairly nice little model, 144 scale so will blend right into an N scale layout.

For an easier build, it looks very nice.

Who was the publisher on that?

Verm, the publisher is Landmark Models. There were several models in the series...in my 'to do' pile is their Independence Hall model. They were released back in 76 or so for the Bicentennial celebration, but still pop up frequently on eBay at reasonable price. North Church I haven't seen in person yet, but have been to Independence Hall...well worth the trip if you happen to wind up in Philly. This was back in the mid-80s, when one could actually lay hands on the liberty bell (which I've heard is no longer the case). Somewhere in Japan there is some guy with his vacation photograph of a middle-aged American with the palm of his hand on the bell and tears streaming down his face....it proved to be an emotional moment for me.

What a nice little model!

Came out very well indeed. If it was freely available I would be in the market for one!

A nice model. I have not seen that one before. I have been to the church. You did a great job.

Beautiful, Darwin! I've tried to get a copy of these Bicentennial models without luck.

Someone should design the North Curch Lantern to go with it.
