Siena Cathedral - Canon
After a break, mainly because I ran out of paper and also the stores wich I usually purchase paper from are closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, I managed to get paper again from a store near my house, wich is still open, despite the restrictions still active(They are following health protocols, just to be safe).
This model is on the same difficulty level as Alcázar of Segovia, and so far the construction process is being smooth, without problems. I realy would enjoy if Canon released more kits in this size, because this is the perfect size for my skills( I can build smaller kits, but I may run into difficult parts). PS: I stopped the buiding of the Aachen Cathedral because I didn't like the partial result I got, had some gaps between pieces, needed to make a lot of fixes to the base because of glue stains on the printed part, as I hate when I mess the printed side with glue. Glad to see someone build this as I've had my eye on it too.
As for mistakes - well, it happens to all of us. You are not alone.

You've made a good start. I will keep a eye out for the progress.
I also have the kit but it's a bit too big for me ;-))) Good luck Mike |

Made some progress:
The finished base is 31 cm x 35 cm, kinda small, I tought that it would be way more big, even the Angkor Wat or the Sultan Ahmet Camii kits are bigger than this kit. Next step is to build the main cathedral structure wich will support the dome and the flying butresses. Cheers, Gregory |

Looking good Gregory!
I would not worry too much if you get mistakes with Canon models - I have had quite a few issues with Canon models I have made recently. The main issue I think is that a lot (in my opinion) actually need different thicknesses of paper in the one kit, but they suggest one thickness regardless! I find myself delaminating a lot sometimes. In the current model, I am busy with, I am cutting off parts already made and glued to replace them with parts of a smaller thickness - to solve fit issues. I have also found parts that are dimensionally incorrect (as anyone who has built the "Toy Train" can probably attest. Strange as their trains are actually usually great quality. Either way, carry on - all the fixes are part of the fun sometimes, and I look forward also to your finished result!

They do have a lot of designers that they contract work to. They have such a large library, I have a tendency to build something, and then if I like it, find something else from the same designer.
This is coming out very nicely, sir

More progress:
Will glue the front side next, then I should attach the previous made tower and the piece 8-5 to the main structure and then I can attach this big structure to the base. Cheers, Gregory |

After 4 days of construction the model is finished, made using 180gsm glossy photo paper. I definitely recommend the model, the size isn't too big, and I'm looking foward to my next build thread.
Cheers, Gregory |
