Kumamoto Castle - Canon

This build should be fairly quick, because if I'm guessing right, the Canon japanese castle models are almost the same scale.

So far I've built the topmost level and the second level roof for the castle's first tower. Next steps is to build the second level walls and the first level roof.

Cheers,

Gregory

That looks really great so far!

I love the look of Japanese castles (and 1920s-30s Japanese battleship superstructures, which look much the same).

Finished so far:
  1. The first tower;
  2. The base level left side roof;

Now I will start the second tower, followed by the rest of the base level roof.

Cheers,

Gregory

Very nice Gregoy.

I've built a wooden castle kit of a small castle from Woody Joe – it's all I could afford. Would love to build a Kumamoto Castle kit as I have a friend who lives nearby.

Any idea what scale this is?

In any case, your model looks great. I'll enjoy following your build!

The model scale is 1'230, is mentioned on the PDF. This model is free, you can download it on Canon Creative Park site.

Made a great progress:
  1. Finished the base level roofs and walls;
  2. The wall's mini roofs;
  3. The right side roof entrance cover;

Now I will begin the base and this is the last construction process.

Cheers,

Gregory

You said 'fairly quick', but I didn't think this would move quite this quickly. Very nice

After attaching the base pieces, I built the left side entrance parts that goes over the base, then I attached the nameplate and the model is done.
It was quite easy, only some parts were tricky to attach together. Looking foward to a more difficult kit to build and share the building progress.

Cheers,

Gregory

Excellent work. I had thought this was going to be a larger model than that. That looks like a very good size. Not too large, not too small. I might have to try this myself
