Church of the Transfiguration - Canon

I didn't made build threads for the latest builds I've shared through the gallery subforum because there was already threads for them. Now my pick for this building session is Russia's Transfiguration Church. Eager to start the assembly already and share the progress here.

Cheers,

Gregory

I made this model a few years ago - it still sits in the middle of my bare-bones model train layout (long story). It was a fairly long, tedious build, so I look forward to your progress reports.

My wife and had the pleasure of visiting Kizhi Island in 2005 as part of a cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg. An architect on the cruise said Kizhi and the Church was the reason he took the trip.

Sorry for the long delay. Had a lot of events going on here that delayed the building process. But now I'm 80% done and I will start the outer parts, then the last phase of the building process is to build and attach the back base part, them the last front pieces then the last base piece.

Cheers,

Gregory

Voilá! It took me 11 days to finish the entire model, making the roofs of the domes took me 5 days itself... But, although I had some minus issues throughout the bulding process, I'm still quite satisfied with the result, as I managed to get very close to the finished product.

Cheers,

Gregory
