A new scale for me -- Yikes!
My friend, a superb plastic car modeler, is building a model for me of one of my dream cars -- a 1934 Ford four-door sedan. In return, I'm building for him a 1/25-scale garage diorama to display and photograph his amazingly realistic car models. This is a new scale for me, nearly four times the size of my RR structures, but it's been interesting and fun.
The interior walls are a paper texture sheet from texture.com, framed with basswood that has been stained with my alcohol-&-shoe-dye weathering goop. The windows and doors are also paper -- the windows built up from the wall texture sheet, the doors from my "digital parts bin." I will add exterior walls, wood floor, and partial roof, all from paper textures framed with basswood. Then I will clutter it up with lots of paper details -- posters, signs, tools, toolboxes, parts boxes, and cans, maybe some tires and a few car parts. I'm enjoying the project, but I'm awfully glad my model RR isn't 1/25 scale. I would need a much bigger workbench -- and a bigger basement! --David

Very nice. The "paper" wood and basswood combine nicely.
Look forward to seeing the finished result! Have you thought of making the building so it "splits " diagonally? This would then give your friend two halves in which to display models if he so wishes...

When I got to '1/25' , I was wondering how you were going to give it strength, and then I got to 'basswood'. Laminating an extra layer of card or two between the interior and exterior walls might not be a bad idea.
It really is shaping up nicely. Not that I would expect anything else.

Beautiful garage! Great choice of "building" materials.
The windows are my favorite part, they look so real. Thanks for the inspiration! |

That looks really nice. Throw some "Piston Cup" trophies on the shelves....

Amazing work . Was wondering if you could share the file of the interior boards?
I am starting work on my buildings for my HO West Side lumber and I would love to use that for the interior of some. But I can't find it on the texture.com Thank you Wonderful work as always |
