Seeing models in a hand is the best indication of their true size.
I see that close up the print lines are so fine they are pixelated. Do these disappear when viewed for real?

I suppose that most of the viewers cannot see such tiny details. In fact if you have the opportunity to have a truck in your hand, you can see many more imperfections, gaps, non-parallel edges and so on than on the images. But when glued to the street surface on the ready diorama, perhaps covered with glass itself, most of the imperfections (as well as most of the details at all) will be invisible.

I have really enjoyed your recent posts, Andrew.

Sadly, my course on Japanese Architecture has ended. I certainly learned a lot. At the end, students reported on contemporary architecture, mjuch of which involves small houses and concrete.

Your truck reminds me of the popular song that my cousin and I loved to sing in 1946: "Cement Mixer Put-i Put-i." CEMENT MIXER by the Slim Gaillard Trio on 78 rpm CADET label - YouTube

Thank you, Don!
I am really happy that I could inspire you. I hope you will find more possibilities to enjoy the Japanese culture and architecture. I wish you so.

Interesting observation - I find that the camera is very unflattering to the imperfections in my own builds, but they seem to all but vanish when viewed at arm's length or on the display shelf.
Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing these houses in various states of construction as a completed set - do you intend for them to be on the same street?

I intend them to be along a very long street, connecting the rural area with the city center and maybe ending at the seashore. The whole thing will be some 2 to 3 m long and 60-70 cm deep.

You are right, that the camera shows the imperfections better than the naked eye, but I can choose the best photographies only and don't share the more revealing ones.

The foundation is ready, now the wooden beams and planks for the main loadbearing structure are being collected.

Nice idea to present different stages of construction of a house on your diorama. Makes it really lively.

Yesss! It was my dream from the beginning of my studies in 1980s, never implemented before. Only lately I thought of making all the necessary machines of paper and I realized that it was possible in 1/300
