Kosciol Parafialny

I started working on this model build a couple weeks ago.
I'm not finished yet but I have taken plenty of pictures along the way.
I will post a few and get you all caught up to where I am now.
Hope you all enjoy this build at least half as much as I am!:D

First a look at the cover.

and here is the sheet of windows you can download from their website.
I printed these out on transparency and backed them up with white cardstock to bring out the colors better.

I'll be back with more later.

So, lets get started with the walls.
One of the things I like most about this model is that it is designed with many layers for a nice 3D effect...
Each wall has quite a few parts, one on top of the other.
Visually appealing, but makes for a lot of edge painting!

The four walls...

The next layers....

Zee window trim...

and some more trim work...

Put it all together now anda it looksa nicea, no?

One side down and 3 to go!

I know a lot of you guys have seen this all already.
This is mostly for the benefit of those who are new and have not seen it.
Please bare with me through the re-run.:o

More later,

Russell

Lots of window frames to laminate and cut out...

Paint frames and cut windows...

Frames and windows installed. These are the printed windows that come with the kit.
I used them just because I wanted to see what they would look like, even though I knew from the start that I was going to use the transparencies.
Yeah, I know, double work, but I just had to see. Here are the left and right walls...

Next up, the front wall...

With parts...

and windows...

and printed windows installed...

For those that like architectural builds, this one is sure to please!
As always, it looks even better in person!

More in a little while, thanks for stopping in and taking a look!

Here is the front wall with the stained glass mounted to card stock to make it visible...

And the left and right walls with the windows changed over to the transparencies on the left side for comparison.
Quite a big difference between the two versions, eh?
For the transparency's download go to www.orlik.konradus.com

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the back wall.
It doesn't look like much but that will change after we put the walls up.

Then we are going to put this piece on it...

and all of these goodies too!

I'll put that aside till after the walls are up.

I had to notch all the walls to go arpound the formers.
I'm not sure if the formers were supposed to be glued down first or not (hard to tell without proper instructions) and it's too late now to matter!:D

The walls are up and cemented to the formers.

Now it's finally starting to look like something!

More in a little while! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

That looks like a really fun model. I always passed on the architecture stuff, though I may have to rethink that.

Looks great too. I love the bricks, probably because they remind me so much of recent game graphics :D

I know what you mean Gharbad. Quake is one of my most favorite games and the textures do seem quite comparable.

In fact though, this is a model of an actual church.
The church is in the same town that the Orlik Publishing office is located.
The reason the church came into the public eye and captured Orlik's attention, is that the church is celebrating it's 100 year anniversary this year.

Ok, on to the rear end! (Boy, that didn't sound right!:p) First, I cemented a couple formers...

Then I slapped all those parts together along with their transparencies...
a look at the right side...(it looks like the left side but remember we are looking from the rear)...

straight on...

And finally, the left side. Notice the gray area? That's right, an addition to the addition...

Here are some of the parts that make up the next addition which I believe is the office...

The first thing to do is to make up the parts which protrude from the building. I think this is called a buttress but I'm not positive.
I believe that the office is a later addition as it is built between two buttress' and uses them for part of it walls...

Once these are in the walls can go up...

I'll be back with more later, if not tonight, then tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
I hope you're enjoying it so far!

Russell

Thank you Chien!
All of the pictures have been taken in low light but when I am all finished, I will take pictures in the sun.
I think it will really bring out how beautiful this model really is!

Nice build thread Russell, you're making a very clean job of it. I'd never paid much attention to architectural models before, but this is a fascinating build.

Cheers
