Almansa Castle
I'm building Almansa Castle, another free download from Spain's Province of Albacete's web site:
Diputacion de Albacete This will be the second castle I've built from this site - I posted some pictures of Yeste Castle here: Yeste Castle I printed the Almansa Castle model at half size on one sheet of paper. There are no instructions, but tabs and edges are labeled. So far, I've assembled the major walls. Remaining are some smaller walls, some in the lower part of the castle and others in the large courtyard, as well as several walkway/stair assemblies and corner towers. |

I've completed the many walkways, stairs, and turrets. I'm not very satisfied with the results -- I had a lot of trouble figuring out how things fit together. Should I ever build this a second time, it should go much better.
I'm ready for the final part, which is adding the "dirt skirts" around parts of the exterior walls. That will take a lot of crinkling and cutting to get a good fit. |

Decided to declare victory with this model. Here is the final set of pictures.

Congratulations on finishing this fine model. I've built a few downloads from Diputacion d'Albacete in the past and know how challenging they can be.

Looks good. Those dirt skirts look like a challenge.

Another great model - despite the problems ;-)
What is the size of the model. It looks as if you have taken the "2PDFs on one A4" Cheers Mike |

Thank you for the kind comments.
Mike -- I printed both model sheets on one Letter size page. I went back to check the original PDFs and found the original's page size was actually A3. So I guess I built this as about 1/4 the original size. (The same was true of the Yeste castle model.) The final model's base was 5x2 inches. (The blue cutting board you can see in some of the pictures is marked in inches.) |
