Tarazona de la Mancha Plaza

There are two models of grand plazas at Spain's Province of Albacete's web site:

Diputacion de Albacete

Forum member "gregoy" has already posted pictures of an excellent build of the one of the plazas (Alcaraz Plaza) here:

Plaza Mayor de Alcaraz

I have started building the Tarazona de la Mancha grand plaza, which is centered on the San Bartolome church.

This model has 12 A4 pages, which I have printed to 6 letter-size pages, so I am building at approximately half the intended scale.

As with the other models from this web site, there are no instructions; however, tabs and edges are numbered and color coded so it is not too difficult to figure things out. There are 4 "color groups." The pictures below show the black-numbered items, except some fragile bits (wind vanes) that I will save for last.

I have the red, blue and green color groups left to do.

I have completed the "red" section, so two sections left to go. Interesting items that start with this section are archways over roadways.

Also starting with this section are many balconies and catwalks -- I found them to be tedious and difficult. I worked out a more tolerable procedure for these fussy bits: cut off the tabs and rely on tiny bits of glue-soaked tissue for reinforcement instead.

As you may notice in the pictures, I have not actually glued down the top part of the clock tower yet. (Simplifies storage and reduces the possibility of damage.)

I've completed the blue and green sections. Here are some pictures taken during the build process.

Here are some pictures of the final effort. (I decided not to add the 4 wind vanes included in the model -- too fragile and small for my skill level.)

Far from a perfect effort, but I enjoyed the build and find the results satisfactory.

Oh, my! I didn't realize how small this was. Great detail for the scale.

I know that the idea of doing the models was to encourage visits to the locations, but this one in particular has me wanting to visit first-hand.

Thanks for sharing
