6. Apses floor, altars and walls
Piece 7a is built (photo 1), reinforcements are added (photo 2) then the finished piece is glued in front of wall 1B (photo 3).
2 pieces 7D makes the side altars (photo 4) and 1 piece 7E makes the central altar (photo 5); 3 pieces 7F are the stands for the altars (photo 6). Photo 7 shows the finished altars. Now I can add the apse walls 7B, 7C and 7G Adding wall 7B was a nigthmare (photo 8). I realized later that I glued the roof flap(the brownish part to wall 1B in the wrong moment, so that's what caused me troubles. I ended force ungluing the piece and printing a spare as I was causing too much damage to the floor piece: Luckily, all the pieces for this step are on a single page. I cut from the newly printed page the offending piece, and I also cut from the floor piece 7A just the part where I was trying to glue piece 7A. First, I glued the wall to the floor excerpt outside of the model so it was easier to match the markings; next I glued this 2 pieces over the damaged floor under the roof flap; last, I glued 7B flaps onto wall 1B. After all the troubles, I added the altar(photo 9). Wall pieces 7C, 7G and their altars are also glued tho the floor 7A and wall 1B in the same manner( photos 10 to 13) |

8. Choir walls and windows
Piece 8D is a window and is glued to wall piece 8C and reinforcements are G added (photos 1 and 2).
Windows 8E and 8G are glued to 8A(photo 3) and reinforcements are also added, I just had to glue wall piece 8B(already reinforced) to wall piece 8A onto the marking first(phpto 4), then I could add the remaining reinforcements and finish the walls(photo 5) Next, I installed these walls on the front , closing on 3A/3B and gluing on wall 1B and floor base 6A(photo 6). Last, I built and glued the butresses 8F and 8G to the wall 8A. |

9. Nave walls and columms
To start the wall, piece 9A is prepared.
2 pieces 9C makes the side intrados and 3 9C makes the central intrados(photo 1); Next, piece 9B makes the fore-choir intrado(photo 2); 5 pieces 10D and 1 piece 10E are the windows and are glued on the holes previously made (photo 3); Last step to finish this wall is to add necessary reinforcements and close it (photo 4). To build the other wall, I just repeat the same steps and photo 5 shows the result. Now, for the columms, I start by building the individual pieces 9E/11H/11G (photo 6); And I join them together to finish the columms(photo 7). Next steps would be to glue the columms first then the walls, but I did the other way, as I thought that it would be easier to add the columms after having glued the walls. So I glued the walls (photo 8) and then the columms (photos 9 and 10). This finishes this phase. Next phase is to build the iconostasis and it's 2 columms ( a small wall with 2 arches) This is an laborious model, so hang tight as there way more things coming. Cheers, Gregory |

10. Iconostasis/side arches/choir barriers
The iconostasis is built using pieces 11C, 2 pieces 11E and 1 piece 11F and the result is glued between the nave walls(photo 1);
Then the 2 columms for the iconostasis are built in the same fashion as before using pieces 11G, 11H and 11I and are placed below the iconostasis(photo 2) Next, the side arches are done using pieces 11A, 11B and 2 11D: Each 11D goes on 11A/11B, then closed (result on photos 3/4). Penultimate to last thing to do here is to attach those side arches between the nave walls and outer walls(photo 5); Now the last thing to do here was to add the choir barriers (photos 6/7) on each side, finishing the interior of the nave. 11. Portico
We start the portico by assembling the floor, using pieces 12A and 12F (photo 1, had already reinforced it by adding layers of cardboard.);
Next, install floor right next to wall 3A and build/glue stairs 12C right under entrance with 2 doors and 12D under entrance with 1 door (photo 2). The funeral alcove is built from pieces 12G/12H/12I/12J (result on photo 3) and is glued right next to the single door entrance(didn't take a photo). To build the portico wall, we start with piece 12E. After cutting the piece properly and the small window holes, proceed by gluing piece 12K to the far left of the wall (also didn't take a photo for this); Now we need to install 10 pieces 13D, they are the middle intrados; last piece here is 12L wich finishes the intrados. On the holes on 12E, twin window pieces 13C are glued and inner wall piece 13G closes the wall. Close 12E(photo 5), and make the corner by gluing walls 12E and 13G together(photo 6). Building will continue next reply... |

The columms are built in the same manner as previous, only exception is that this time we have 2 half columms and 3 slightly taller columms.
Photos 1 and 2 shows the corner columms; photo 3 shows all columms finished. With this, the Pars mozarabica section is concluded. On the next post, the Pars romanica section will be started. |

12. Tower
Pieces 16A and 17A are prepared (photos 1 and 2); piece 18E is glued to 18B and right after piece 18C goes on the back of 18B (photos 3 and 4).
Window pieces 14D and 14J are built(It was tricky to build 14D(photo 5) with this paper, but I eventually managed). Reinforcements for 16A and 17A are cut from cardboard; then pieces 14J/14D and the door made of 18B/18C/18E are glued to the back of 16A. Next, window 14E and door back 18D are built and glued to the back of 17A following by closing the west wall 17A and gluing the sides of 16A onto 17A(photo 10). Now it's time to build the east wall of the tower; you glue pieces 15A/15B/15D toghether like a sandwich while adding all necessary reinforcemnets (photo 11) and then close the wall(photo 12). Next step here is to glue the partially finished wall on the wall 16A (photo 13) and then we can start doing the intrados of the wall 15A/B The intrados here are built on a interesting way: first join pieces 14I and 14B (photo 14) following the marks; then join 15C and 14C (photo 15). Now you need to join these 2 pairs of pieces, gluing the first one below the second, following the marks(result is on photo 16). Last step for the intrados is to glue piece 14A on the back of the 4-piece construction made before(it closes the intrados) and glue it onto arch piece 15D within wall 15A/B(photo 17). This concludes the east/west walls of the tower; Piece 17B closes the north wall of the tower; it's window piece 14F is glued to the hole. Inside the window, inner arch 14G is glued on the middle. Reinforcement for wall 17B is cut (photo1), glued to the back of 17B and the wall is installed on the tower on the proper markings (photo 2). Wall 17C is done in the same way, window piece 14H is built (photo 3), glued on the back of 17C followed by the reinforcement (photo 4) and it's installed onto the tower (photo 5).
Last step is to glue the whole tower to the floor piece 18A (photo 6) Continues on next reply... |

13. Tower's roof
21B is the roof's base (photo 1); I added reinforcement to it's inside;
21C is the roof's tenon (photo 2); also added reinforcements to it; Next, I have to join 21C to 21B following the markings. 20E is the roof itself, I glued the open edge, then added reinforcements to the inside while leaving space to be able to glue the roof to the previous assembly tabs (photo 5); last step is to add 4 ridge pieces 20F to the roof's edges and the roof is done (photo 6). Now I'm working on the 2nd nave of the iglesia... Cheers, Gregory. |
