Windmill - de Palmboom - Leon Schuijt - 1:100
Hello everyone
New year, new model This time it will be a Dutch windmill. The "Palm" from the Leon Schuijt publishing house in a scale of 1:100 is on the cutting mat. There are around 70 components on three A3 sheets, 43 x 30 cm. The hand-drawn texture has a certain charm and I like it a lot A small construction sketch and text in Dutch, English, French and German complete the model building sheet. With kind regards, Kurt |

Hi Kurt,
That windmill looks great! Where can I get one? My parents came to the U.S. from Holland and I would like to build one for my mother. Mike |

'Palmboom' will be added to the list of awesome Dutch words. The mill does actually look a bit like a palm tree.
I will enjoy watching this come together, as despite several cycle journeys through Rotterdam I never went out to Schiedam and saw the mills there.

Welcome Siwi
Now we start ............. .... with base plate 1, which is reinforced with 4 mm cardboard. Edge colored and sealed with glue, work opening cut out. Part 14 a large part, 35 cm long... window cut out, reinforcement (0.4 mm) prepared. Now the windows, as they are different sizes, pay close attention to the numbering... fold the windows well and then insert from the back. Kind regards, Kurt |

The street surface with the various tile patterns looks great. How do you cut such thick reinforcement cardboard? And how was getting in all the windows from inside when the part is already formed into a cone?

My other half built this kit some years ago. She built it vanilla and the finished result was impressive enough to commission a case for it. But I know that you are going to find ways to improve it still further, aren't you?

Hello again
@ Tim : a warm welcome @ Siwi : Hello, I cut the thick cardboard with a cutting knife, you have to cut several times until you get through. As the diameter is quite large, you can put the windows in by hand. @ Philip : I will try to do it well Continue... I reinforce the back of the two gates with 0.5 mm cardboard... installed in the opening. Deviating from the instructions, I put a false ceiling on top... divide the reinforcement (0.4 mm) into segments and glue it in... ... this increases the strength considerably. Kind regards, Kurt |

Looking great. It is a nice subject.
I also deviate from the instructions sometimes and add disks at the top and/or bottom of long cylinders and cones when making architectural models. Like you stated it increases the strength and it also helps maintain the shape.
