Inspired by Steve Bucher's Backyard Flyers I've try to make something 1/48, WWI and flying:)

Here is the result:

How well does it fly with that cowl on? Looks pretty good! Steve may be inspiring a whole new class of model :)
Chris
p.s. check your pics, links are having issues!

In cowling I've hide the additional weight:) Fly well.

Very, very nice. And if this flies with that coling is very, very cool.

Good Job! I like that cowling idea. How much nose weight does it take? I'll be keeping my eye on your site for this one.
These things build fast and easy and are lots of fun.

Back side of the cowling is full of clay.

I forgot to ask, did you build with paper or card. I tried both and paper seemed to fly better.
I look forward to building your triplane!

Your model is a good compromise between authentic look and simplicity. One thought regarding the landing gear: Maybe a solid triangle with the struts printed on would make the landing gear more stable than the single v-shaped struts. It would not look half as good as now, but could withstand some more crash-landings. Maybe you could offer two versions of the landing gear: One sturdy and one good-looking ;-).

I use thin card.

Thank you for idea! I've made two versions of the landing gear!

Looking forward to seeing this one come up for sale! Maybe you or Steve could do an SE5a or Sopwith Dolphin next?

I'll start on a Sopwith Dolphin, but give me a little time. Would you be willing to flight test it?

Steve,

I certainly would.

Wyvern - if you want a non flying model I have lots of Se5a's (and 3 more to put up)

Thanks Chris- I've got plenty of non-flying SE's in several scales (all plastic) in my collection as is. Though I've been impressed with the paint schemes the SE's on your site are displaying. Love your site, by the way! Here's a request for you, though- with the several schemes of the Bristol F2B Marek has on ecardmodels, how about one in a post-war Silver Wings scheme- the Brisfit soldiered on for years after the war in Egypt, Mesopotamia, and India. That would be one I'd like to acquire.
Regards,
Wyvern
