All I can say is wow!

I've fired the UMP a few times, and I was very hard pressed to tell that wasn't a picture of the real deal... Even my tactical guy here at the office was hard pressed. Of course his next question was, "How much is he selling it for?" We both agreed that if we saw that on the street, we'd be looking for cover and breaking leather.

My only question is what printer/ink did you use to get the color to come out so well. I would have loved to see some build up picks on this one. Great Job!

hi to opalmox, thanks for your kind comments.
in answer to your question about the colouring the only way i can achieve 'realism' is to use paint and tend to use it all the time now. >question: you mention 'tactical guy in the office' could it be i've managed to fool a police dept or something similar? i would be greatly honoured if i had

At this time I'll leave it to the fact that, yes, I'm a Law Enforcement Officer. I'm also a long time weapons instructor between the Marine Corps and my current job. I have handled the UMP in the past, and it took me a while looking at it to finally see that it was indeed a model build... It's an excellent job.

Now back to paint... What kind of paint are you using to come up with that kind of finish.

BTW, excellent job on the holster as well.

thanks for the info, sounds like you have great job! and you've give me a bit of a chuckle knowing 'not meaning to' that my ump nearly fooled ya . bet its great to let a few rounds off 'in controlled conditions'.
ok, paint. i use enamel hobby brush and spray paints. in the umps case i used matt, silk and gloss black. by looking at pictures you can usually see the shade changes. hope its of help

.45 Tactical UMP

Going through all the comments, it looks pretty convincing, to say the least!
But I wonder if you've had this experience...Someone will go over to the model, jerk it to their cheek, and fall backward because they were expecting something much heavier? It happens around here sometimes with the larger aircraft models. It can be pretty humourous!
Grea build. Are you still considering the Tommygun?
