Your model is beautiful despite the troubles you encountered with the turret, I don't believe there is much more you could do to improve the out come of the finished product without taking more drastic measures, such as filling the voids, sanding and a complete repaint. Unfortunately this is just a design flaw in the kit itself. You did the best with what you were given, and successfully kept the charm of a paper model. Your attention to the fine details with your little "add on's" such as all of the nuts and bolts really make this model pop!
I look forward to seeing more photos when you have the camouflage netting in place.

This is an outstanding model. Given the amount of effort involved, you should be proud of just finishing it. Your level of attention to detail is outstanding, Well, done.
