Thanks guys. I appreciate all the positive feedback. I've started laminating all the pieces of the hand grip to card stock. Tomorrow is going to be a big day on that phase of the build. Hope to have some more photos up tomorrow night.
@ultra... Best of luck starting it. It's a fun kit. No major fixes to point out at least this far in, so I hope you take this one on.

Late in getting this progress update up. The hand grip is underway. The major assembly is the inner structure which is made up of three plates. A left, a middle and a right piece. The three are glued together to makeup the primary inner structure of the grip. There is a slot between the left and right sides in the middle that facilitates attachment to the triangular hook on the AR's lower.
This will soon be wrapped and finger grips will be added. That soon. This is rolling right along smooth. I have not glued the three grip parts together in these photos, just propped them together to get a sense of their accuracy in shape.

Thanks Jim! I appreciate all the morale support.
Got a couple things to add. Put the finger bumps on the front and attached the bottom plate. This will set up the rounded rear portion (that rests in the holder's palm) that will go on next. Then its the rounded finger grips followed by the outer wrap which is mainly aesthetic with the simulated grip pattern on it. Checked the fit between the notch in this hand grip and the hook on the lower. Fits like Cinderella's slipper.

I really like the way this is coming together, eib!
I am happy to hear the fit of the handle to the lower receiver is so good, that is fantastic...hope the rest of the build comes together as well for you. I am convinced a good part of that is your skill in building this model, as well as the great design. I would love to start my own, but seems I am just not getting the time right now.... Keep at it, mate! Cheers! Jim |

AAAAGHGHGH! your getting me mad now!
how do you make these parts so sharp and clean. i'm not even going to show a photo of the mess i made of putting the same handgrip panels together i ended up making a skeleton frame in mine instead. 'sidewinder' who had a spate of weapon building on here recently did some very clean builds but you sir, your a fair bit sharper. amazing work from the original print. |

Thanks for the kind words Jim and dessy.
@Jim.... You're going to have to get your priorities right. Modelling first, everything else second, third, fourth etc. I'd love to see your expert skill take on this really great kit. @dessy... Thanks for your more than kind praise. My trade secret is all those years I spent making architectural models in my more formative years. I never finished an architectural degree, but I came away with some mad modelling skills. Basically it was the mid '80's and I had never heard of paper modelling. But I was already introduced to it. Once I discovered it later in life I was like... "hey, I've done this stuff before" but it wasn't nearly as fun then as it is now.
