Arrow Civil War Traveling Forge

This is the next piece in what is going to be the entire collection of carriages that make up a Civil War Battery. This of course was the Travelling Forge. It was pulled by a limber whose chest held the various tools that the Blacksmith used an his supplies. The model kit will have all that information included from the Ordnance Manual. Scale is 1:20 so that you can use the horses if you choose that option.

Forge in front of Bellows
Coal Box on rear of carriage
Storage boxes for iron bars

Completed Limber, Field Gun, Traveling Forge. Left to complete Battery Wagon, Caisson, and Field Tack.

You beat me to the punch, This is one model that is on my list to do. I would have like to have seen the build thread but overall, a very well done model. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I saw you drift off into outer space, I guess were alike in that manner, I jump around a lot on subject matter also. I've been watching Ken Burns PBS series on the Civil War so my focus seem to be there now. I will do the build thread for you on this later. I am making the bellows details now. The one your looking at was a beta for the initial build. Thanks glad you like it.

Have you seen the Model Expo Guns of History line of 1:16 offerings in mixed media? Love your versions using paper, amazing technique.

Excellent model. I appreciate models like this as many people just think of the cannon and the limber when they think of Civil War (and later) artillery. Some will know about the caisson. But many folks don't know about all the other carriages and wagons that were in batteries. This one was a very important one. It isn't like you could just stop off at NAPA or Western Auto to pick up a part or shoe a horse. You had to be able to make/do it yourself. Again, great model. I'm looking forward to seeing the bellows.
