Based on my info, the Sten was a stamped sheet metal construction mostly ( other than the barrel ) and was simple to make the parts and assemble. Thus it could be manufactured anywhere without special tooling. It was more suitable to guerilla warfare than regular army. That is the reason it was adopted by the early IDF and its predecessors. I don't think that reliability, accuracy etc... played a prominent role since they needed quantity over quality to arm their fighters.
Once the IDF got into regular mode and manufacturing could pivot away from cottage industry, the Uzi was a more suitable sub machine gun to use. Isaac
