Sig Sauer P250-C pistol test build

Good day gentlemen. I just started a test build of a Sig P250 Compact pistol. It's a far predecessor of the P226 that is a standard issue service pistol of the US Army now.
It's a semi-auto pistol made by Sigarms (now known as Sig Sauer Inc. of Exeter, New Hampshire). Hammer fired and introduced in 2007 but not available to buy from Sig as of 2017.
Calibers are : 9x19 mm Parabellum, .22 Long Rifle, .380 ACP, .357 SIG, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.
What's cool about these guns is that they are modular.
The craddle with the firing group and serial number inside the polymer frame is a separate piece that can be removed and put into another frame at any moment.
I will try to document the build as much i i can and explain the process of making the pieces durable enough for mechanisation. If possible i will also share the patterns for the model.
I already made the trigger guard and a part that goes above it with the trigger hole.
As you can see it's simple. Already drawn pieces are cut out and stacked together. Each piece is 0.5 mm thick.
After gluing you sand down the edged to get as flat surface as possible. Then coat the entire piece with superglue. Then sanding again. Then you locate the little crevices left on the surface and fill them with baking soda. Remove the soda from surface so that it only remains in the crevices. Superglue again and final sanding. Of course you can continue the process if not satisfied with the finish. It's a great trick even for scratchbuilding vehicles and adding strenght.
I started the right side of the frame. Hope you have a good day men.

Looking forward to seeing this build thread. It's a great looking kit. Nice start too.

Thanks mate. Here is a little bit more progress. The right back piece of the frame is completed. I still have to sand it down and coat it with super glue but i think it will be better to assemble the left side aswell and then sand it down.
I also made the grip plate which is very easy to do. The patterns for it have cutouts for the Sig Sauer lettering on it but i didn't cut it out. It will be easier to draw the letters separately and glue them on atfter the sanding.
Thanks for watching.

The Layering method is definitely different than what I'm used to. Good luck, I'll be following with interest.

Thanks. It's a bit strange yeah but when you get it going it becomes a great technique for making a wide variety of details and props.

A very beautiful project enjoys seeing the work process
Can you elaborate a little more on the model and the paper
Are you a cutter or is it a laser cut and with what color you intend to paint at the end
Good luck
Abraham

Thanks Abraham. The guys that make these models use Rhino 3D to slice real size 3d models into layers or slices similiar to pepakura but there is no folding involved just stacking. It's called sandwich model. The model is still in testing to find any wrong parts. No laser cutter involved im cutting the pieces by hand with scalpel. It is printed on 210 g paper and laminated on 180 g paper until required thickness.
I will color it black. Metal pieces metal black and polymer parts mate black like plastic.
Thanks for the interest. Have a good day.

Happy easter everybody. Hope you had a good time.
To update the build a little i finished most parts of the frame. Just need to build the front part with the picatinny rail.
It's coming along nicely now i just need to assemble it and sand until smooth. Next up is the cradle with the fire control group.
I also wanted to ask i was thinking of making an MP40 or sten gun. Scratchbuilt but to make some templates if anyone is interested in building one as well.
Have a good day people.

WOW! That is a heck of a lot of parts. It does build up nicely.

Thanks Mac. It is slowly coming together but the last parts for the frame are a bugger to cutout. There is very little material left between the lower part and the little prongs and it's slowly killing me.
Im building it alongside the MP40 project so it's going slowly for now.
Im halfway through the bastard parts of the frame and the im gonna start on the fire group.
Have a nice day.
