Answer's M4A3E8 "Fury", (not fury anymore)
Hello!
In this thread, I want to show you Answer's M4A3E8 "Fury" It was designed as M4A3E8 in movie "Fury". But after pain of making turret, I decided to change it as "Rice's red devil's marking. The Rice's red devils is company that operated during Korean War, so I have to modify this model as post war version such as engine deck's spring hinge, main gun's travel lock.... And I also added some missing details. I have more than four hundreds of pictures that I taken before university exam. Yes. I already done almost now, But those pictures... I'm just hope you don't got bored about it. Today's memory is January 28th to February 2nd. Thanks to the model house's laser cut, I can build frames easily. But frame and shell, they weren't fit well. It seemed like wavelength of laser causes this problem. Anyway, I added one to two copy paper on surface to fix this. But... making this model's turret is very painful to me. I know shape of this tank is very unique, but this is too hard to fit with frame. So, I decided to change this model as I already mentioned. I poured super glue on surface, and sand it hardly. Alright. I'm added to much pictures now. So I'll cut it down here today. Next time, you'll see detailing turret and more. Have a good day :D |

Answer's paint scheme is too dark and dirty anyway...
repainting it is your best option to get the proper green. Can't wait to see the Devil Face artwork! Its surprising how long these Sherman's were in service. When were they finally retired? was it before Vietnam or after?

In the US they were pretty much phased out by the end of the Korean War. The M-46 was the next phase of tanks. But it remained in use by the Israelis well into the 1960s as an up-gunned tank. In the 1990s, during the war in Kosovo there were variants of the Sherman, such as the M-36 Jackson, being used. Quite a tank, but I believe the T-34 had an even longer service life.

Thank you dave and wind!
Yes, Answer's American vehicles are too dark. Even it looks dark green paint, not a olive drab. And I didn't expected that sherman observed at kosovo war, 1990s. What a long life of war machine! |

Part2
I was about to link seventeen pictures and denied.
I have to attach pictures before I have 10 post, Right? Why didn't I read more instructions? Anyway, Today's memory is building turret. At first, I detailed up Loader's hatch. added more volume on hinge, used real spring. And pistol port is flat too. So I fix this(figure 2 and 3). Cupola, MG mount also modified. I refer to scale model to modified them. In case of MG mount, Lock Lever was missing(figure 5). Cupola, It was very unsatisfying detail. You can see it in figure8. It was not the best, but It satisfying me enough(figure9). Oh, I almost forgot. Loader hatch lock also added.(Figure 10) Well, readability got worse... I apologize. I'll find out better way next time. Thank you. |

Part3: MG travel lock and antenna
Next, I made MG travel lock.
This model doesn't have it, so I have to rely on my hand, and scale model's shape. Specially, spring-like structure was quite hard(Figure 4). Than I made another MG travel lock on turret's behind. Ventilator's mount also bad, so I modified(Figure 5 ~ 7). Antenna refer to scale model's after market set. (Figure 8) Well, not bad. Right? (Figure 10, 11) Next time, I will show you gun making. That was really hard one to me. To be continued |

Part4: Main gun
Now It is time to show you main gun build.
Figure 1 First of all, I don't like original print's muzzle brake. Figure 2 Of course, I decided to modify this refer to scale model. Figure 3 I added rolled paper at start of muzzle brake, and sand it to make taper shape. Figure 4 This is almost final build of muzzle brake. There is only little groove left. Figure 5 Than, I started to make mantlet. This is back side of it. You can see simple structure of gun sight, and coaxial gun. Figure 6 Gun sight usually hard to see its inside, but coaxial gun doesn't. So I sanded and cut toothpick to make cal. 30 barrel. Figure 7 I attached final build of muzzle brake to barrel. That "Fury" marking... I don't want to waste it, but I got a bigger job to do. Figure 8 and 9 Attached barrel with muzzle brake to mantlet. I think the building Matlet was most hard work that I've ever done. Specially that curve, I had to use super glue. Figure 10 Building completed! It looks like done, right? but someone might be noticed, there is last thing left on turret. I'll show you next time Have a good weekend. |

Part5: Mantlet Details
It was mantlet's details!
Figure 1 Using masking tape, I build a canvas on mantlet. It referred to scale model's shape. Figure 2, 3 And, I added canvas's holder (I don't know its exact name) Figure 4, 5 Finally, I sprayed surfacer. You can see the bad surfaces somewhere. so I have to sanded that surfaces. Figure 6 And I painted it as greyish using black and white. Figure 7 Using washable paints, I painted some striking mark. All this for test and practice transpareted paint myself. If I succeed, I'll keep try it. Figure 8 Well, I'll keep try it. Maybe washing and weathering could cover it... Next time, I'll show you hull build. Have a good day |
