Rolling tubes of any kind (in paper) is tricky.
There are plenty of ideas (here) to improve our rolling skills.

I try to use dowels wherever possible, inside a printed part.
I have an assortment from 1.5mm round toothpicks, to 10mm solid wooden dowels.

Trick is to pick a dowel that is slightly smaller than the desired diameter of the tube/object.
Measure the thickness of your paper to determine how much smaller.

Printing the part on lightweight paper makes it easier to roll, if its a small diameter tube.
Cardstock likes to wrinkle at very tight diameters
...but works well around larger diameter dowels.

If the diameter of your dowel is close to the actual size, use only the visible area of the part...cut off internal rolls or tabs.
Every wrap of cardstock adds about .5mm to the diameter of a dowel.
(Lightweight paper only adds about .3mm.

Carefully wrap the printed part around the dowel and glue in place.

This method worked especially well for me, on this model
and on the long gun barrel on my big scale Centurion Tank.

THanks, not really sure what you mean, but they are round "ish" based on FFS (fat finger syndrome) maybe the next one will be better


tubes as well as the bloody wheels are not my strong suit, but getting better. might not shoot straight or drive straight but looks good i think

The main barrel is a bit wrinkled...mine look like that most of the time (if I don't use a dowel inside!).
Viator noted the barrel on the coaxial MG...which is definitely a bit conical (wider at the outer end).
But the upper 50cal looks a lot better!

Don't let those Tires discourage you...the Tires are definitely more advanced level.
I wanted to prove that a more realistic wheel could be accomplished without the need for filler and paint, but that requires a lot more parts and a more complicated assembly.

And the fact that you have six wheels (instead of 2 or 4) just gives you more practice time! lol

I love this kit, it looks complicated but was rather surprised that it went together nicely. Only mistakes are mine and not due to Dave or the Kit. there is enough build info on Daves original post to help anyone built it.


I think that i will build Daves WW1 AutoCar Lorry i printed it a few weeks ago and the Lincoln Machine "littly Willy" and also working on his Cdn CC130 Hercules 319 - The aircraft i got qualified on type as a Loadmaster back in 2005 . been putting this off for a long while

Dave the barrel of the machine gun is the same width...its the shadow that throws the view off just looked at the kit
